Light Bursts Forth
"The light shines in the darkness,  and the darkness has not overcome it." John's Gospel begins like a lightning strike, quick, sudden and powerful as he reveals to us the Christ who has come into the world.  But of course that is the way it should be because this is a history changing event.  John tells us who Jesus is:    *He is eternal    *He is the creator    *He is with God    *He is the living word of God    *He is the Light of the world    *He gives the right to be called children of God    *He became flesh    *He showed us the glory of the Father    *He is full of grace and truth    *He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world    *He is the Son of God Of course as amazing and great as this description is, it doesn't tell us everything about Jesus.  It doesn't reveal everything about Him or tell us all He has done, is doing,  or is going to do. Even today darkness seems to be winning.  Look at the news,  look at the world,  look at the suffering that people go through,  and yet ultimately the Light will prevail.   He will usher in His Kingdom fully with a new heaven and new earth and the darkness (sin, weeping, pain and death will be destroyed) He really is the victorious light of the world and the darkness will never
