Thoughts of Worship

Recently I have been struck with the holiness of Almighty God.  Everything that I have read lately, including Jonathan Edwards' sermon from the 1700s "Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God" have reminded me of this fact - God is Holy.  The psalmist says that "we are to worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness" (Psalm 96:9).  And truly because we serve a holy God, we ought to do our best to present to Him, Holy lives.  (see Romans 12 as well).

There is something wonderful to me about coming together for worship each week as the body of Christ, but as G. Campbell Morgan said over 100 years ago, "if we aren't giving God all of our lives then what we do on Sundays in the sanctuary simply don't matter".  For true worship to occur we must worship each and everyday of our lives and give to God the honor, praise and glory that is due Him.  When we do that and when we through the power of Christ live holy lives, then we present to God a beautiful sacrifice, something that is a pleasing aroma to Him.

When we yield our lives to Him and live each day thankful, and live each day in His power then we are worshipping the Lord "in the beauty of holiness".  Holiness really is a beautiful thing isn't it? So lets live beautifully as we walk with God, as we serve Him, and as we worship Him, for He alone is worthy of our praise.

Hope to see you Sunday.

In His Love,

Jon
