Training for the Race of Life.....Day 27 (Off Day)

Training for the Race of Life…..Day 27 (Off Day)
After yesterday I realized that there was no way I was running today, my feet needed time to heal.  However I did work breakfast at my church this morning.  Once every month on the second Saturday of the month our church has a community breakfast and most of the time we use the proceeds raised from the breakfast to help some organization.  This month’s breakfast proceeds went to our local fire department, so we were expecting a large turnout of people.  We certainly were not disappointed as around 240 people or so made there way through the line that morning for some sausage, eggs, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, bacon, and more.  I’m partial I guess but I think it is one of the best breakfasts’ around, and of course one of the reasons that I run.
Why do I bring this up? I bring it up because when I stepped back and watched for just a moment this morning what I saw was a beautiful picture, a picture of Christians working together for a common goal and a common cause and there was no way that we were going to get it accomplished without everyone working together.  The Bible says that we are “the body of Christ”, and this morning I saw a living illustration of that.  We worked together as the body of Christ, and because of that the goal was accomplished, 240 people went away with smiles on their faces, and our local fire department received a nice donation.  It’s amazing what happens when we join together with a common goal.  God blesses it and great things happen.
Last night I also had the privilege of going out and eating and celebrating the 35th birthday of a good friend of mine.  As I looked around the table once again I was thankful for the people that God has placed in my life.  Life was not meant to be lived in seclusion, we need one another.
Life is meant to be celebrated together.  We are to rejoice when one another rejoices and weep when one another weeps.  We are to be there one for another.  Life is meant to be lived working together, serving together, and lifting God up together.
So keep running together and most importantly keep running with Jesus.  After all the Bible says in Him “we live, we MOVE, and we have our being.,” and that He is the one that “holds everything TOGETHER”.
