HGTV and the Church?

 HGTV and the Church?

1 Corinthians 12:18 -  “But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as He chose.”

My wife is a fan of many of the shows on HGTV.  I am not, but I will confess that occasionally I get fascinated by one of the episodes.  I find myself watching to see what kind of design the people on the show are going to come up with.  Recently she began watching one called High and Low and on this show the designers come in and transform a room or an “outdoor space”, in an inexpensive way.  They will show a High end transformation typically costing 1000s of dollars and then they will actually come in and change the room for a fraction of the high end cost.  Hence the name High and Low.

The show runs in typical fashion with the HGTV people going from store to store to find “bargains”, then it shows them working to bring the room together, and then at the end they have “the big reveal” where they show the finished room to the owners of the property as well as to the viewers.  It is always interesting to see how they arrange the room for maximum impact.  And as I said sometimes I find myself watching because I’m curious what the room is going to look like.  Other times I find myself watching not in curiosity but in fear, wondering when my wife is going to get an idea to start changing a room.

Seriously though it is interesting to see what the designers do, how they arrange the room for “the big reveal.”  What do they do for maximum impact?  Paul writes to the church at Corinth in 1 Corinthians 12 and says that God has placed the members of the church together for maximum impact.  He has arranged us according to His will and for His glory.

We all have different gifts, talents, and abilities.  We all are different pieces of the puzzle if you will.  We are all different, but God takes us and joins us together and forms us and arranges us for maximum impact.  We are part of the body of Christ and the impact that we are supposed to have is the glory of God and “revealing” Jesus to the world.
