Training for the Race of Life.....Day 28 (SNOW)

Training for the Race of Life…..Day 28 (Snow)
Today was a great day that was highlighted by our Christmas cantata at church.  Our choir did a great job and it served as a wonderful reminder of what Christmas is all about, and in reality what our lives are all about.  The psalmist says, “the heavens declare the glory of God.”  In other words they were created to glorify God and we were as well.  The Christmas story certainly shows us that.  When Mary heard the news of the baby that she was carrying she broke out into a song of praise.  When the angels announced His birth they did so with a shout of praise, “Glory to God in the highest”.  When the shepherds saw baby Jesus they went back to their homes, “glorifying and praising God,” and when the Wise Men saw Him, they fell down and worshipped and “presented Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”  We are created to worship to glorify God.  It is what life is all about.
Some might ask why? Why should we worship God?  Think about it this way the Bible says, “every good gift you have in your lives is a gift from God.”  Why should we worship? Because every good thing that we have is a gift from Him.
I worshipped yesterday because of the beauty of the cantata and I worshipped yesterday because of how God has blessed me.  But as I sat and watched it snow yesterday I was reminded of the greatest reason that we should worship.  For you see I love snow.  It thrills me to hear the forecasters predict snow and I get depressed when they predict it and miss it.  They didn’t miss it yesterday however and it came down for a long time and I was thankful.  Thankful for the snow? Yes but thankful too that my sins have been washed away and that God has wiped my slate clean.  Or as the Bible puts it, “white as snow”  For it says, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as SNOW.”  How amazing.  God cleanses us.  IF we trust Him and repent of our sins, He cleanses us and we are forgiven.
John puts it this way in 1 John 1:9, “if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and Cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  In other words He makes us whiter than snow.  And we should be overflowingly (that’s not a word) thankful for that.
So even though snow on the roads makes running hard, as you see the snow take time to say, “God thank you for cleansing me.”  Keep running with Jesus and remember as you run, you run cleansed.
