Training for the Race of Life......Day 61 (Just Hard Enough)

Training for the Race of Life……Day 61 (Just Hard Enough)
Well it certainly wasn’t warm but I bundled up good and out the door I went to run.  I got in around 3.5 miles in around 40 minutes running through my neighborhood, which meant that I got in about 6 minutes of hill running.  The hills definitely slow you down and make you dig deep to run all the way up them.  There aren’t extreme hills in my neighborhood (at least on the parts that I normally run) but there are some with just enough incline to slow you down.  Not too difficult but just difficult enough.
Life throws some of those kind of days at us as well doesn’t it?  Days that aren’t necessarily excruciatingly hard, but just hard enough.  Not too where you lay awake at night in full dread of what lay before you, but the kind in which if you wake up during the night they are on your mind.  I’ve had a lot of those days, and what I’ve found even in those days God is faithful.  It might be a busy day or a day that includes a fairly hard decision or a day filled up with a lot of responsibilities but those days can come around surprisingly often.  But even when they do come around, God is faithful.
In the really difficult times of life, we generally find ourselves crying out to God for help and for strength and for wisdom and for whatever else.  But in those days that are just difficult enough, sometimes we don’t.  We don’t because its only a little problem and we don’t want to bother God.  We don’t because well its just a small thing, we can handle it ourselves (or so we think), or we don’t because we are so busy we don’t take time too.  But regardless many times in those “just hard enough” days we don’t cry out for God’s help.  And yet even then He is faithful.
He is faithful to go through those times with us.  He is faithful to give us rest.  He is faithful even to give us His wisdom.  He is always amazingly faithful.  During those times of life we need to commit ourselves to cry out to God, to trust in Him, to lean on Him because the good news is that He is there and He says “cast ALL your cares upon Me.”  We need to trust Him with the big things, the small things, the “just difficult enough things,” the good things, the wonderful things, the things of celebration and whatever.  We need to trust Him no matter what.
So keep running with Jesus and trust Him through the hills and the mountains of life.
