Parish Nurse: Lula Gray
PARISH NURSE
A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who functions as a member of the Church ministerial team.
The parish nurse provides leadership in the field of preventive medicine with an emphasis on spiritual care. She accomplishes goals and outcomes with the assistance and approval of the pastor and the congregation. The parish nurse acts as counselor, educator, and nurse by identifying needs of the congregation, coordinating health screenings, providing educational programs, supplying health literature, and referral to, or direct provision of, supportive services. She maintains an active visitation program to parishioners who are homebound, hospitalized, or in nursing homes.
Lula Gray serves as the nurse at SSBC.
Ongoing services:
- Blood Pressure Clinic – 4th Sunday of each month, 9:30 AM, Parish Nurse Office.
- Lunch-n-Learn – 2nd Wednesday of each month, 12:00 – 1:30 PM. Free food, fun, and educational programs. Everyone is welcome. No reservations required but it is suggested that you contact the church office (753-6716) no later than 12:00 PM on the preceding Tuesday to insure adequate food.
